"Journey to the Backwater Center of the Earth"

Films: Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008)

Alias: Giant spiders, Tyrannosaurus, Pteranodons, Apatosaurus, Carcharodontosaurus, magma worms

Type: Ancient

Location: Underground/Forest

Height/Weight: Ranges from that of large dogs to that of small buildings.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: This year, we actually received quite a few adaptations of Jules Verne's fantastical speculation of what lies beneath the Earth's crust. But alas, the Asylum was dead set on capitalizing on a fad, even if it meant crafting what would be, under a higher budget, the most harrowing journey to the center of the Earth ever.

History: Recently, an all-girls team of explorers were teleported away in an Argentinian science facility. But the experiment led them nowhere on Earth. Rather, below it, in a lush forested area with its own sunlight. Now as their friends attempt to drill their way through the Earth to rescue them, the team has to contend with the place's myriad predators.

Notable Kills: The spiders' bite takes some time to take effect. But when it does, it isn't pretty.

Final Fate: The rescuers arrive right on time as the uber-spider gets blasted with a laser beam, and the surviving team members make it back to the surface. However, as they leave, they fail to notice a baby spider having hitched a ride on their equipment...

Powers/Abilities: The giant spiders have a venom that can cause slow yet immense swelling to the point of gory explosions. Also, as the magma worms' name suggests, they can tunnel through extreme heat.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 3-Dear. Asylum. And everyone else. Who makes movies. For the Syfy Channel. Get. BETTER. EFFECTS BUDGETS. Your otherwise intimidating and ferocious beasts would be better off with them. Especially those spiders.

Trivia: -Originally, people thought the largest prehistoric spider was a eurypterid named Megarachne, but the title then got properly sent to Mongolarachne jurassica, an extinct relative of the golden silk orb-weaver.

-There's really nothing else significant here. Just the Asylum doing its thing.

"What have you idiots done?! There goes our ceiling!"

So, yeah. The sky is falling. We said it.

Graboids have nothing on them!

"Tell Deemer's Tarantula that he owes me!"
It ain't the Earth's center without its stock dinosaurs.
